#ActivityPub people, we're failing at implementing the HTTP signatures necessary for interop, does anyone know how one would do this in #AspNet #dotnet 8?

Otherwise, could you check what's wrong with our implementation by looking at an example request, to see if anything jumps out?

Totally understand that troubleshooting and bughunting is work, I wish we could pay for this. Drop any donation/tip page you have and we'll try to donate what we can when we can

At this point, this project is held together by the sunk cost fallacy and desperation

@mooooooo I think @mapache has implemented #ActivityPub on #DotNet? Maho, would you mind giving this team a review or some tips?

@mapache @evan Oh, wow, I had completely misunderstood the standard when it comes to how the signature header is constructed, I'll try like that, thank you so much
What I was doing was just juxtaposing the values of the original headers separated by single spaces and feeding that to the signing algorithm, I feel so dumb lol
-
@julian Do we have a #DotNet library or DLL or whatevs for implementing HTTP Message Signatures? If not, can someone please take @Interledger 's money and extract their implementation into a library?

@evan@cosocial.ca NSign is available (on NuGet, and MIT licensed) and Letterbook uses it, although I'm not sure exactly how, since I haven't looked enough at the code to really grasp the architecture.
I originally used some of Letterbook's code for draft-cavage signatures in Pandacap (my single user server) before eventually rewriting that part in F#, but I'd like to go back and take another look at some point, since Pandacap doesn't support proper RFC 9421 signatures yet.

@isaacschemm @evan@cosocial.ca according to the httpsig.org website NSign is that library.
I took a cursory look and I wasn't able to tell whether it supported cavage-12.
Which... Is highly ironic hahaha

@julian @isaacschemm @evan I'll try it, thank you so much ily

@zotan @evan @mapache @julian @Interledger @mooooooo
additionally, since it may come up, i also have an implementation of object integrity proofs (the modern ld-sig replacement) over here including a fork of the c# json canonicalization library with a bit higher performance and a nuget package (hosted on codeberg instead of nuger proper, but still easier to install than the "official one") over here -

@mooooooo@qaf.men @evan@cosocial.ca this kind of joy is why we do activitypub Dev Rel.
