@soberaim sometimes I feel like it's some curse - or at least date/destiny - connected to Linux. In the past I never planned to work in IT or do anything related to computers. I chose completely other field at university... Ok, it was before starting with Linux. I moved to Linux during my university years, simply being tired of corporate OS crap, and encountered more and more people asking if I am programmer or other computer person - just because Linux user = IT person I simply denied.Few years later, after problems with finding job in my field, I ended as sysadmin in some big company. So I couldn't even escape Linux user fate...

@malasaur That make sense.I think I was just overthinking it a bit because I had a bad experience somewhere else. I’ll try to share things normally, not spam, and actually talk with people. Thanks for saying that.

@hiisikoloart well it's one of the most repeated words on those popular "tier list" videos and tutorials, etc on Internet even if they don't deeply understand them and see 'em as "versions" or "flavors" of Linux, the tips work.

Fedora's AI Developer Desktop Initiative Just Got Blocked What happened:Two Fedora Council members retracted their approval votes, killing the proposed Atomic Desktop platform for AI/ML workloads. The backstory:Red Hat engineer Gordon Messmer pitched this initiative to deliver an optimized Linux desktop for AI development — with accelerated GPU support, specialized dev tools, and a dedicated community ecosystem. The council initially voted unanimously in favor. But then reality set in.Council member Justin Wheeler flipped his vote to -1, citing the massive structural shift required: "completely rearchitecting our kernel strategy" without proper legal/engineering alignment first. Fellow council member Miro HronÄok followed suit after seeing community backlash — he'd assumed it was purely additive and uncontroversial, but clearly wasn't.The discussion thread has exploded with 180+ replies from Fedora contributors pushing back on:- Kernel policy changes- Proprietary software inclusion (AMD/Intel drivers)- Project identity dilutionHans de Goede from the packaging team called out the proposal's emphasis on vendor support as going against Fedora's FOSS roots, arguing for open alternatives like AMD's ROCm and Intel's oneAPI instead. This isn't just about AI — it's a fundamental question of what Fedora is: a community-driven distro or Red Hat's marketing vehicle? The community said no, and they got their way.#Fedora #FOSS #Linux #AI #OpenSourcehttps://linux.slashdot.org/story/26/05/16/0815220/fedoras-ai-developer-desktop-initiative-blocked-by-community-backlash

Google claim that their upcoming laptop is the "perfect partner to your Android phone" because you can "access files from your phone as if they live on your laptop" - but did you know that this is already possible, no special laptop model needed?KDE Connect is completely free and open source software (FOSS) to link your devices together, supported by the @kde charity. It works on almost all phone models, and it does more than just allow you to access your phone's storage. For example, with KDE Connect your phone immediately becomes a remote control for music or videos playing on your laptop or desktop PC!Don't get drawn in by the slick marketing - you don't need AI to make your life easier with technology, and most of the features large software companies such as Google are promoting have already been thoughtfully implemented by dedicated volunteers in the FOSS community.#kdeconnect #kde #foss
